My daughter, Mandy, and I composed this song when Craig of Marimbaworks asked us to try out a new tenor he had just built. We took turns layering lines until we had parts for a full song. Then Mandy spun it around with her arranging skills until we had this jazzy piece with fun duet breaks. We named it Kamba after a wild tortoise we encountered in the desert. The piece is in the key of C, and is perky, as we imagine our Kamba thinks of herself with every thoughtful step.
