Kukaiwa was composed by Dumi and is a foundational piece for studying a variety of basic marimba techniques of contemporary Shona music. This piece is something to sink your teeth into: we will explore the weaving of these simple parts and how they make the resulting whole. Our goal is to relax and enjoy the intricate nature of the ensemble experience through this piece. We will study all the parts, hosho, and if time allows, drumming.
