MyLinda King played with Boka Marimba for 10 years, starting in 1989. During that time she studied with Dumi Maraire, Ephat Mujuru, MaiChi Nemarundwe and Chris Berry. In 1995, she started teaching group marimba classes for adults in her home studio. She now divides her time between this and teaching children in various Portland area schools. She is the founder of Mhembero, A Celebration of Youth Marimba, which is an annual festival bringing together all the many schools in the Portland area playing Zimbabwean inspired marimba music. She currently coaches five adult groups and five school-based groups. MyLinda is also a regular teacher at the NW Women’s Music Camp. She also enjoys making hosho and teaching people how to play them.
