Marian Grebanier has been actively involved with Shona music since 1986 when, with the help of Dumi Maraire, she started the Boka Marimba project in Portland. Studying mbira since 1992, she feels very fortunate and grateful this music has come into her life. Through the years, she has studied with many mbira masters. She lived and studied in Zimbabwe for 6 months in 2001. In 1998, she and Nathan Beck formed Njuzu Mbira which has been performing ever since.
