Chris Berry began his study of African music at the age of 15 and later traveled to Zimbabwe where he lived, worked and studied as a musician for a number of years. Most of his training took place at the Mapira ceremonies. In these ceremonies, he apprenticed with and accompanied his teachers. Today Chris leads the internationally-renown band, Panjea, that uses the mbira as the basis for much of the band’s music.
